We have a number of different sized techs that work on the Bactron IV and wanted to know what others have done to address the ergonomic issues related to the height that the cabinet is and also things like reaching into the side compartments .

We note that the rear high shelf is almost useless because you can't reach it.

Would love to hear how others are dealing with issues like this.

    Cunhab,

This is a engineering/marketing issue that has been brought up before. As chamber space is at a premium and incubator space is secondary as is that shelf. I would suggest using a reaching aid  such as a grabber used by disabled people. I apologize for the lack of ergonomics and can say we are looking at modifications to address this issue.

    Cunhab,

It can be a challenge!  I have worked with some lab techs who have shorter arms and they typically are able to place the cuffs farther up the arm and actually reach in almost to the shoulder to get to the upper shelf on the incubator.  As John said, they also use those grabbers or long barbecue tongs.

    what have you tried?
